The Paul Watson Memorial Festival for Dance held its first festival in October 2006 in Hull,

 Paul Watson's home town.

Paul began dancing at the age of five and progressed to a full career as a ballet dancer with several professional ballet companies. As a senior soloist he enjoyed performing many notable roles and worked with esteemed choreographers and producers.

He moved into teaching in 2001 and taught at the Arts Educational School, now Tring Park School for Performing Arts in Hertfordshire, where he was loved and much respected. Paul was dedicated to the development of the next generation of dancers.

The Paul Watson Festival was founded in his memory to give more opportunities for young dancers to enjoy performing with others, to raise aspirations and to support the Paul Watson Bursary Fund at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and promising dancers from Hull and surrounding areas.

The festival is an annual event in Hull's dance calendar, well supported by local dance schools and demonstrates high levels of performance and enthusiasm.

It is an event enjoyed by competitors, audiences, volunteers and organisers.

Paul would be surely proud.
